PEMF Therapy:
Everything You Need To Know

What Is PEMF Therapy?

Our Treasure Coast Recovery & Wellness Center here in St. Lucie West is thrilled to offer cutting-edge Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy. PEMF therapy uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to recharge and rejuvenate cells.

Cells, just like batteries, hold an electrical charge. When that charge diminishes, the cells cannot perform at the optimal level to carry out their function, leading to a slew of related problems including disease, chronic illness, and pain. PEMF delivers energy to each cell so those cells can function at full capacity.

But how does it work?

Pulsed electromagnetic therapy uses ultrashort voltage pulses that penetrate past the cell’s exterior and stimulates the organelles of the cell, mitochondria, and nucleus. This process helps your body with restorative healing, faster recovery, and better performance! PEMF technology is changing the health game and transforming the lives of many by improving cellular health and function!

PEMF and The 9 Biological Systems in the Human Body

Too many times we look at the human body like an on/off switch but it is not. It is a complex system; 9 different systems in fact. The PEMF therapy helps optimize all 9 systems. If we think one pill, one meal, one workout will fundamentally change us we are mistaken. The PEMF ultimately helps delivery more nutrition, oxygen, hydration, energy and light to the cells.

The body is made up of 100 trillion cells and with PEMF you can charge these cells and ultimately support all 9 of the biological processes optimally.

PEMF improves the production of ATP(adenosine triphosphate) which is the fuel that powers our cells. An increase in ATP production is followed by an upsurge of oxygen, circulation, hydration, detoxification, and nutrient absorption in the body. Thus improving mood, sleep, flexibility, motor coordination, strength, stamina, and recovery!

History of PEMF Therapy

PEMF is not a new therapy. It’s been in use since the 60’s when NASA began using to support the astronaut’s recovery post expedition. After several years and continuous studies, the FDA began to approve it for some specific usages where it was an obvious solution.

Since those early days and over the past 40 years, researchers around the globe and NASA have performed thousands of studies on the effects of PEMF. The results of these studies have proven the body is an electro-organism comprised of trillions of cells that work together through electric current. These cells act like battery packs in our body and naturally lose their charge as we age. Consequently, leading to poor circulation, inflammation, chronic pain and disease.

What is PEMF Exercise?

Pulsed electromagnetic therapy may be one of the greatest discoveries in the history of medicine.

Dr. David Williams

Nikola Tesla discovered that electricity was literally everywhere and pervades everything, including cells of the body. As the first to demonstrate the restorative principles of electromagnetic fields, his research evolved over time into what we now know today as Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field therapy (PEMF).

Over the past 40 years, researchers all over the world have studied the effects of PEMF, conducting thousands of peer-reviewed studies. As a result, PEMF has been known for:

PEMF Exercise uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to bathe low energy cells in pure, raw energy. Each cell in your body is actually a capacitor, or battery, which holds a charge. Your entire body is electrical and your cells each need a measurable electrical charge to function optimally. In order to maintain good wellness, cells must be doing their jobs. PEMF Exercise supports the body’s natural abilities to optimize balanced body functions –the definition of wellness.

Keeping Cells ‘Ripe’, Not Rotting
A fruitful analogy of cellular vitality…

Imagine a cell in your body as a fresh grape; healthy, vibrant and alive. Now imagine that same cell as a raisin; once a vibrant grape, drained and dry of all its vitality. This illustration of cellular decay is similar to what happens when your body lacks the energy to perform optimally. As reported by the Mayo Clinic, “regular exercise helps prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns.” There is no disputing that an exercise pro- gram is good for you.

A Rejuvenating Experience with so many Benefits

PEMF therapy does not treat medical conditions; rather it provides the body’s cells with an optimal charge. The human body is 70% water and it’s bio-electricity is primarily conducted through this water. In order for the body to heal itself naturally it must replenish the charge that exists in healthy cells. Science has proven that damaged, weak cells have an imbalanced electrical gradient or charge and that there are only four main ways to recharge a cell:

  1. Exercise
  2. Raw Food
  3. Natural Spring Water
  4. Magnetic Fields or PEMF

While effective, the first three options are slow acting. PEMF allows you to quickly bring cells back into electrical balance, increasing nutrient circulation and oxygen flow so that each cell then has the energy to work as the body intends.

Inflammation and discomfort are signs of cellular imbalance. PEMF Exercise is a safe and effective way to support cellular energy needs and has been shown to help with the following:

By using PEMF daily you can optimize your health and wellness and ultimately prevent disease. Over time the cells in our bodies begin to lose their energy. The reduction of your cell’s energy is the root of cellular dysfunction. With PEMF you can energize your cells and reduce the risk of the cellular dysfunction. As long as the cells in your body remain healthy, your body will remain healthy. Numerous benefits of PEMF therapy have been manifested through more than 2,000 medical studies, visit pemfinfo.com for some of the latest research studies on PEMF.

Don’t rely on opinion, look at the science

In a 2012 study published in the Journal of Orthopedic Surgery and Research involving 44 patients with fractured tibias that were either taking longer than normal to heal or not healing at all. Regardless of age or health, after undergoing high powered PEMF therapy 77.3% of the fractures finally healed.

Another study involved 32 patients who were experiencing chronic musculoskeletal pain, half of which had fibromyalgia.  After seven days of PEMF therapy individuals were assessed and their pain scores were down by an average of two points.  The individuals with Fibromyalgia experienced the most benefit lowering their scores by almost three points.

Muscle soreness is a common painful condition that arises from exercise-induced muscle damage after physical activities. This study shows that high intensity PEMF therapy after physical exercise reduced soreness and improves muscle strength recovery.

High-intensity pulsed magnetic field (HIPMF) stimulation of the pelvis has been available as a non-surgical option since 1998. It has the advantage of not requiring disrobing, insertion of electrical probes or continuous exercises.

Depression and anxiety can have a debilitating impact on daily life. Individuals with these conditions often find themselves exhausted, experiencing difficulties with regular sleep, overwhelmingly sad or anxious, and feeling empty and hopeless. In 2008 PEMF was FDA approved for the treatment of depression.

Americans are taking massive amounts of painkillers. The federal government is very concerned about the level of abuse and wants to take steps to reduce this dependence. In 1987 the FDA approved the use of PEMF for post-operative edema and pain.

Pain is both normal and necessary in acute situations. The pain you feel when you sprain an ankle, touch a hot stove, or are fighting off an infection is a message from your body to your brain, which signals your brain to send help. Chronic pain is the body crying for more energy.

Blood viscosity is a measurement of the thickness and stickiness of an individual’s blood. It is a direct measure of the ability of blood to flow through the blood vessels. Thick blood or hypercoagulability is a condition where the blood is thicker and stickier than usual. When a person has hypercoagulability, they are prone to excess blood clots.
